Depends what you mean by sponsorship. This, would be sponsorship to me. Also, considering how much money they invested into keeping the speedmaster as the "official" watch, I would classify them as sponsors. Although funds were not directly passed from one company to another, there was a deliberate attempt to supply novel technology at next to nothing.
