Valo, while I agree with you that the criticism of Cutler not going back into the game is unwarranted especially because people on TV "would have gutted" it out have no idea what they are talking about is valid, i disagree completely about the optics.
Cutler is the QB and should be the leader, sitting around pouting just looks plain bad. It's his right and maybe teammates say they don't care but the fact remains when it comes to crunch time, you have to wonder whether guys are going to look to him to carry the team.
One thing Dilfer said on Simmons' podcast about Rodgers is that at the end of the (philly?) game when they needed a score, Rodgers got in the huddle and said "don't worry, I've got this" or something to that effect and just calmed everyone down.
I've never played high level football (I know you played college, presumably at Mich.State) but it seems to me that you need your QB to be the alpha male, and to have a swagger (as dilfer put it) and cutler just doesn't seem to have it. This just further evidences that.
Also, it doesn't help that he's known to be a bit of a dbag, people aren't going to give him the benefit of the doubt here.
