I'd have to call Shaw every 3 months or so when I lived in Coventry Hills, due to slow internet speeds. They'd tell me to try unplugging it, then they'd try to reset the box itself.
Sounds like it may be your internet and not Netflix itself.

I'll try but I'm not 100% convinced it's a speed problem. I can download from hotfile and megaupload quite fast (all this considered...it limits your speed) and torrents run quite fast (downloaded the latest episode of Top Gear yesterday in 30 minutes). Even when doing tests on SpeedTests.net I get over 13Mb/s during peak hours.
When trying to use Netflix I'm not downloading anything on my computer.
