its because you can't. A 'sprained' MCL is a grade 1 tear while a 'torn' MCL is a grade 3 tear. Its reported he has a grade 2. as someone who has had a grade 1 MCL tear.
Also, i dont think it really matters what position you play, he still has to plant in order to throw the ball, and with his offensive line he would need range of motion or order to run.
