The initial injury happened in the 2nd quarter. He was checked out during halftime and was deemed unfit to play. They decided to let him start the 3rd quarter and see how he did. He couldnt plant when he threw (even though every pass is off a back foot) and Lovie Smith made the dicision to pull him. So he actually was checked out by doctors and coaches, despite what it looks like.

He was not helping his team by being out there with that injury and he would have been putting his future in danger as well.
