I don't think it's biased at all. If it was something that never happened to anyone, but seriously? I played on more than one team where you were not supposed to talk to the quarterback about the game 24 hours before the game starts. I also had a family member who was a pitcher and the same type of rules apply. Its a lot more common then you seem to think it is.

Can I come up with a reason why he flat out ignored him? No. Maybe he didn't hear him, maybe he was just ignoring him, I really don't think it matters.
