I would bet its extremely common.
But do you not think its also common that less then an hour before kickoff, that maybe he wants to keep to himself? Players prepare in different ways and having some guy chirping in your ear may do more bad than good. If Lynch tells him something, maybe he starts to get tunnel vision waiting for a cornerback to bite or turn his hips the wrong way, or whatever. Point is, maybe he is ignoring Lynch because he doesn't want to hear him or let him get in his head.
