I've owned my current 2004 WRX Sedan for 4 months now.

Drivers great, lots of power.

But yes, if you want a fuel efficient car, Subaru isn't really quite the way to go, but if you want something that's good in the snow, handles well and gets you out of a lot of sticky situations, go with Subaru. (I also know someone who works at a Subaru Dealership in Calgary.)
