Hypothetically, you buy a ticket with a credit card (if you can do that? I don't know, don't take the train/bus) so you have some dated proof that shows you bought it. Buy it at a time EARLIER than the ticket, so it looks like you bought it, say, 20 minutes before the time on the ticket and would have had it on you at the time of the infraction.
We all know the right thing is to pay it, but we all
also secretly think of ways to get out of 100% justified tickets. The OP admitted its his fault, might as well take the low hanging fruit when you can?
