This is exactly what I didn't understand. Having seen many high risk takedowns in my time they ALWAYS make the subject walk backwards with their hands on their head towards them with their guns pointed and usually a K-9 unit on the ready.
Even if he wasn't responding the guy was alone at the side of the vehicle. That is a big no no. If the guy decides to have a shootout with a hidden handgun the other cops can only sit and watch as he's right in the line of fire.
Many things were wrong with this arrest, not just the kick in the face.
