don't have telus...but Bell. Their piece of crap modem is designed as a modem/router. I had to bridge their modem. As mentioned, most of the ISP's won't support you if you are doing this and using a router which does not belong to them...but oh well.
I initially called them and questioned them on port blocking etc...they claimed it was wide open. As soon as I bridged their modem voila...my NAT was good to go.
