I think we can all remember the Falcon not having the most sophisticated firing system in the world compared to an X wing or Tie Fighter. Remember the Falcon was a smugglers vessel who had guns to shoot imperial storm guards and fight off bandits looking to steal its loot.

I am surprised Han was able to shoot one of them down. I always assumed it was Chewy who actually shot and Han who decided to come back since the shot of Han saying WooHoo is of him in the Falcon's cockpit and not in one of the two firing turrets.
