They make a really good point. For the sake of this argument, lets NOT consider the continuation of Star Wars past this movie.
Han Solo had a wide open shot and the element of surprise. Darth Vader had no idea he was coming. Why da hell did he not shoot at the lead and shot a stupid wingman instead?
Everyone knows once you take the leader, the clones would be lost on what to do.
Edit: Apparently, I'm not geeky enough to know Darth Vader had a shield.
