IIRC, you have a 9800GTX?

The G80/G92 series are all dying these days. Same thing happened to my 8800GT and 8800GTX. Started idling really hot. My FPS started to drop to 50% of expected performance.

Don't buy factory overclocked cards. They are not a great value and the factory overclock is only tested for a short time. There is no guarantee it will hold out over 2-3 years (my 8800GT was an XXX edition).
