Honestly, I wouldn't buy it just for the newfound security flaw that allows the homebrew programs. Despite the claims of the team that found the exploit, Sony *might* be able to come up with a fix for it. At the very least they might be able to make it very difficult to do. Once you get into the jailbreaking scene it can become a cat and mouse game. I know others in this thread have stated how easy it is to do. But if you don't know much about the basics of computing, even something as "easy" as putting snes and genesis games on it can be a daunting task. Not to mention keeping up with all the custom firmware updates that counter Sony's inevitable attempts to close the security hole.

If you want a machine that is a good Blu-Ray player and a good game machine then go for it. Just don't buy it for unauthorized functions that might not be permanent, or might be beyond your ability to open up.

If you will not be putting any media on the PS3 (pictures, music, downloaded movies) Then the 160GB model will be more than enough for your needs.
