I'm glad silentsim came along, I know zilch about Macs.
A word of caution about the Genesis emulator. I think the save game function has a bug in it. I created a player and started a season in NHL95, when I loaded the rom again none of that data was there. I tried a different rom (Phantasy Star 2) I saved a game and when I reloaded the rom, the save game was gone. my workaround is to use the emulator save states instead of the in-cart battery backup ram. It may just be a problem on my end, but I thought I would give you a heads up.
EDIT:
I found the problem. The emulator lets you change the savegame data to any folder, the data will be saved to the folder you choose. However the programmer forgot to put in the ability for the emulator to read that data from anywhere but the default folder. So, under the PATHS option, you can point the startup Rom directory to your USB stick. Leave the Savestate and SRAM directories alone though, otherwise your games wont save.
