i posted earlier in this thread with a method to get it on a 3g or 3gs for free if you can get access to an iphone 4 for about 2-3 minutes. it involves making a free mobileme account on the iphone 4 and then logging into it with your older iphone. if you don't have access to a 4, you can go to the apple/cellphone store and "borrow" one of their display ones and it should work fine.
