Well, although SEA beat Chicago in Chicago earlier this year fairly convicingly (a late Hester return made it closer then it actually was), Chicago has looked like a completly different team on offense since.
That said, all us SEA fans can hope for is limited offensive mistakes, and that Jay Cutler lets the pressure of his first playoff game get to him, and be the Cutler that throws multiple, dumb interceptions.
I give them a bit less of a chance then I did of beating the Saints, but its a better bet still then if they had to face ATL.
Hasslebeck also has some demons to exercise against CHI in the playoffs. In the 2007 divisional game, Seattle was in Chicago territory, tie game, with under 40 seconds to go. 3rd and 9, and he hesitates far too long in the pocket, and instead of dumping it off to Alexander for a minimal gain, he took a friggin 9 yard sack. If he dumped it off, and Alexander could've gotten an extra few yards, it would've been a 47-50 yard FG attempt to win the game. Even if there was a miss, there was no time for Chicago to run any play. But his dumb decision to look like a hero took them out of FG range. Chicago wins in OT and then beats NO to go to the SB that year.
I clearly recall that, being infuriated for hours/days (and still am!) that he made such a dumb decision, and really its been all downhill since then for the team, and for him; he hasn't done anything since except dumb decision after dumb decision for the past 4 years, until a good game yesterday, of note.
And I dont count out GB, they played ATL until the last seconds, in ATL, earlier this year...as I said in a post a few pages back...could we see a GB/SEA NFC Championship game...in Seattle? I'd do whatever it took to get out there if that long shot fantasy happened next weekend.
