Common sense would lead police to believe there is a shotgun in the truck. Just because you have a shotgun doesn't mean you have a handgun.
Even if he did have a handgun on him, the kick was unacceptable. He was on both knees with both hands on the pavement, *if* he had a handgun he was no threat.

The question is if this cop had done similar things in the past, and what his partners did about it. What they do about it now, especially with video footage, changes everything. I am sure this will be in the investigation. They could all be in trouble if it is discovered he had been a loose cannon in the past, and no one reported a thing.
How does anyone know he was complying?
I would think that police assume everyone is armed and dangerous and have a procedure on how to remove someone from a car. This guy got kicked in the face, I am confident that is not in the manual. I saw he was on his knees, what I don't know is what it took to get him there. There may have been a lot of yelling, a flash of a shotgun or a bunch of other stuff, none of which made the video. That guy was foolish enough to bring a gun somewhere and fire it, who knows what he did once pulled over by police (assuming he was pulled over, we don't know that either).
