Taking the dogs out is brutal. Walking one direction with a hood on is fine, but eventually I have to come back. I'm ok with wind most of the year, but in the winter it just makes bad weather into miserable. Not only because it's cold as hell, but it makes the air so dry.
I'm pretty happy about buying a humidifier a few weeks ago. Wish I did it years ago. To anyone that is inexplicably tired during the winter: buy a humidifier for your bedroom. They're cheap, and once you get used to the hum, you'll be happy you got it. Not only do I sleep better, but my perennial (winter) battle against chapped lips has been won.
I bought a cheap $30 one from Crappy Tire, and I run it 24/7. If/when it breaks down, I'm going to buy one that I don't have to fill twice a day. I'll never sleep through another Calgary winter without a humidifier in my bedroom.
