I've used Cruise Canada and have done a private rental. Renting from an individual person was a lot of hassle, but about $800 for the week. The Cruise Canada rental (for the same annual trip, ~1200km) cost about $1250.

I have to say that Cruise Canada was a fantastic experience, and I'll be using them again. You never worrying about maintenance and storage of an RV when you rent it, but you definitely pay a premium. If you decide to rent, I would HIGHLY recommend going into the Cruise Canada office and working out a deal (you won't pay the website prices.....).

As for fuel.....checking my log, we averaged ~24 litres per 100 through the mountains. On flatter terrain, using the cruise, you'll do better, but likely no better than 18-20.

Whatever route your choose - enjoy!
