You work for commission. Sure you want to prep your day early, the amount of money you earn may depend on it.
I'm paid hourly, why should I give away free time to the company. I already do that daily because I tend to work late....
You aren't working for every last penny when you are working for free.
Commission jobs may be a little different.
If you prep 45 minutes early you may earn a LOT more money, if I prep 45 minutes early I earn nothing, and the company earns money....
