I think the impact Becks would have on the younger players, especially Lennon, would be the reason for bringing him in. Choosing Tottenham would be a little odd for Becks as you'd think he'd want some playing time, I guess Ol' Twitcher is giving him some assurances.

You guys may not have seen it but David Seaman was on Sky during the half last night. He's lost the pony tail and is looking in shape, I had to ask my cousin if it actually was Seaman Seaman.
