The contracts being thrown around by Riccardi really seem to go against the whole "Moneyball" premise, unless I'm totally out in left field. BJ Ryan isn't exactly proven the same way a Rivera or Gagne type is, and he's earning pretty close to the same amount.
I honestly think Kevin Millwood is the best Pitcher on the Market, not AJ Burnett, however it looks like Burnett is going to get the most money.

Zito will cost a lot, look at the Mulder/Hudson deals last season and the type of talent that they had to give up. A couple of very promising prospects/future starters, and to be quite honest I don't think Toronto has the talent to match.

We have a couple promising pitchers, but none at the AAA level yet, and I think Oakland might more be leaning towards that.

I do agree about BJ Ryan though... Really an unproven pitcher. Only 1 season as a closer. You can analyze him numbers to death (which look good K/BB ratios, etc), but it still is a large risk.
