Connect BB to home network
So I have a tech question for the CP guru's.
Background:
My brother just got a BB Curve 9300 and when I was over there on the 25th, I connected him to the home wi-fi. I have never connected a BB to a wi-fi network before and figured it would be exactly the same as connecting any wireless device (ie: set the router password on the device and bob's your uncle).
This didn't seem to be the case, as the only way the Curve was able to connect to the router was to have the BB generate a key, type that key into the router admin page in the Wi-Fi protected set-up area. That seemed to work fine, but my parents called and said that the other wireless devices (iMac and iPad) are no longer able to connect wireless to the network anymore.
Needless to say this is a bit of an issue. In reading the BB docs for the 9300, and reading up on WPS this seems to the standard. So questions are as follows:
1) Is there any way to set the passcode to the router on the BB so it doesn't have to generate a key that I have give the router? (router is using WPA-2)
2) If I have to use this protected setup stuff, what do I have to do so that other wireless devices that want to connect to the router don't get locked out?
Thanks for your help.
