I forget which thread, and which poster said it, but they stated they didn't see a movie anymore unless it had an 80% + rating on rotton tomatoes or something stupid like that.
So dumb, so dumb.

Why is this dumb? I see one to two movies in theatres per year so I'm fairly partictular as to which movies I see. In todays worlds consumers have more and more discressin with what they want to do with their entertainment dollars, so if you're going to shell out $15.00 for a night out at the movies why not read a few reviews, and take them into account? I'm not saying I won't see a movie that is below 80% on RT but if I'm choosing between two I'll always go with the one that gets higher reviews.
As an example, I'm back in Calgary for Christmas and my family and I wanted to go see a movie the other night. My parents wanted to see Tron but after seeing the poor reviews on RT we chose to go with The Figther. Based on what I've read in this thread sounds like we made a good choice because the The Figther turned out to be a pretty good movie.
