The used price is a factor of how much the phone originally cost and how much supply and demand there is. The iPhones are good phones so people want them. There's lots of demand for used Blackberries as well.
As I said if I want to buy a used Blackberry Bold, I'm paying the same range as a used iPhone 3G.

I bought the Blackberry Bold 9700 no contract last year for $650. My warrenty with Best Buy guarentees replacement phone if i have any issues. When my standby button broke (amongst other issues) I took it in and had the option to get the 16gb Iphone4 as it is also $650. I jumped on the opprutunity and am very happy I did as the Iphone blows the blackberry away.
So where the 32gb is a tad more pricey than most smart phones the 16gb is around the same price point as any blackberry or andriod.
