Shepard can be slow moving at times but at least it's moving. Barlow on the most parts is quite congested and if you through in an odd train or two and it's a total stand still.

Instead of taking Deerfoot & Barlow to get to Shepard, I would suggest that the OP take 52nd Street northbound and then 106 Ave. westbound and then his merge onto Barlow takes him directly to the Shepard turnoff. On the days that Deerfoot is backed up, getting to Shepard will take over 30 minutes. Now that 52nd is divided and twinned to 106th, this route is quite congestion free.

However, on those days when a train does block 52nd street, then turn westbound on 114th Ave and then take your first right off 114 to get to 106th.

No matter how you slice it, your office moving to the core is going to add some serious driving time to your day.
