I think that that is the front driveway. Based on the picture, it looks as if they are building a massive amphitheatre.
I always find literalist's treatment of the Tower of Babel highly perplexing. Even here, the true believer's have depicted a structure of fairly modest size. Given their understanding of God as the creator and sustainer of the whole Universe (Think about that for a moment); given the the exponential expansion of knowledge, structural engineering, and architecture that has produced such marvels as the Tour de Eiffel, the Empire State Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Panama Canal, Kölner Dome, etc. does this little ediface not seem like much-a-do-about-nothing? The depicted building does not exactly conform to the picture of God's alarm in Gen 11:6 that "nothing that they purpose to do will now be impossible for them".
