I dont ask for anything for christmas, Often times i get stuff i need but would never think of. I dont like asking for stuff, people are inclined to spend as much or as little on me as possible.
To be honest, to me the idea of gift giving is really idiotic. If you want sentiment make something for the person you love. It's about the little things.
