What will happen? Nothing at all. Your GPA goes down a bit.
If you can't get it deferred, which in my exp the u of c is pretty anal about you can take the course again but I'm not sure if that makes the F go away or averages it or what.
Think of it this way. Your degree and final GPA is comprised of 40 courses. A zero in one class will hardly affect the end result.
Only 2 reasons to get worked up over your overall GPA going down by that little. You are going for grad school, you are getting a job where you know they'll look at your transcripts and you know you won't get the job because of a single F.
Short term I guess if you need a certain GPA to qualify for scholarship money is the only reason I can think of.
Well that and you wasted 4 months and $600.
Over your whole degree it might lower you GPA by .075. So a 3 becomes 2.925. FTR I'm no expert at calculating GPA. Thing is I'm pretty sure you get no credit for it so I'm not sure how that works.
