3-10–1, Someone’s head had to roll
Raleigh, NC - The Carolina Hurricanes added a right winger to the fold Tuesday, acquiring Mike Knuble from the San Jose Sharks for disgruntled forward Brian Rolston. Knuble was drafted in the 4th round, 76th overall, by Detroit in the 1991 Entry Draft.
After allowing his team to fall off the face of the CPHL, Hurricanes GM Hanna Sniper finally pulled the trigger on a deal to help relieve the downward cycle created from the last time he looked to shake things up. “it wasn’t from lack of trying it’s just there wasn’t a whole lot available of what it is I think we needed” replied Hanna “This doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods yet, outside of the hole we filled tonight, we still have a spot of the backend that’s been vacant since Kenny Jonsson packed his bags and went home, but I think we’re a lot closer to making that deal then we were 24 hours ago”
Coming along with Knuble to Carolina is young center Brad Boyes. “Boyes was really the key to the deal for us” said Hanna “yes we were targeting Knuble but we’re not looking for Knuble to replace Rolston’s scoring or offence, he’s just here to apply a presence and grit to our lineup. Having someone like Boyes in our future will help fill other holes in out game.”
It’s doubtful that both Mike Knuble and Brad Boyes will make it too New Jersey for their match up Wednesday night and are expected to suit up the Vancouver Canucks in Carolina on Thursday.
