I am not saying they shouldn't be allowed to practice their religious or cultural beliefs. I am saying that we shouldn't let the aspects of those beliefs that oppress people and violate our laws be tolerated by us as a society simply because it falls under the veil of religion.

As far as my second paragraph being ridiculous you haven't heard of honor killings in this country, or arranged marriage. The story of the women in a full burqa getting on a plane without being asked to prove who she was or the constant stories of Sikh boys wanting to wear Kirpan's at school.
The only conclusion I can draw from your post is that your eyes stopped functioning at the sign of a comma, because everything after that was apparently disregarded.

And please, go on about the Kirpan issue. I'll dust off the 40+ pages I wrote last year about the legal and social issues at play. The notion that they're requesting to carry around knives as a weapon is laughable.
