I am not saying they shouldn't be allowed to practice their religious or cultural beliefs. I am saying that we shouldn't let the aspects of those beliefs that oppress people and violate our laws be tolerated by us as a society simply because it falls under the veil of religion.

It doesn't bother you that we give people citizenship without expecting to speak either language or know anything about the country?

As far as my second paragraph being ridiculous you haven't heard of honor killings in this country, or arranged marriage. The story of the women in a full burqa getting on a plane without being asked to prove who she was or the constant stories of Sikh boys wanting to wear Kirpan's at school.
