I'll throw my 2 cents in.
The Wire is hands-down the best tv series I've ever watched. For me, it's the measuring stick for all other tv dramas (I don't think it's fair to compare comedy and drama)
The Shield is also excellent. It would probably make my top 5 list for best tv shows.
I don't watch Fringe. I saw the first few episodes and it was alright. Seemed like a modern version of the X-Files. The thing that put me off is there seemed to be way too much
deus ex machina going on...
I tried watching Burn Notice and hated it. Just way to cheeseball for my tastes.
Sons of Anarchy is decent. Season 1 was good, season 2 was excellent and season 3 was just okay.
Other shows I like: Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Stargate Universe, Peep Show (British comedy series).
