I agree. I think, for the most part, the characters have been pretty believable. Some people here seem to expect that every character is only going to follow through with a completely thought out, logical set of actions, but that in itself is not very realistic. Virtually the entire human population is dead and now roaming the earth in some meat starved stupor. I would expect that these characters act irrationally. Yet, despite this allowance, I can't think of anything that is that difficult to believe in terms of character development. Shane has been rejected by a woman that he was clearly in love with and she won't even talk to him. He gets pissed drunk (we as the audience have never seen him drunk before so perhaps he is naturally violent in that state) and he goes to far before getting the sense slapped back in him. How that is a character arc that is "badly done" is beyond me. If anything, I enjoy it because now adds another element of potential physical conflict for the main protagonist. Is it great writing? No. But it is a fair cry from all the flack that it gets in this thread.
