Parliament passed a bill permitting UK tuition fees to rise to as much as 9,000 pounds per year today.

As has happened over the past several weeks, there have been serious students protests today.

Whitehall and Parliament Square has been subject to widespread broken windows, graffiti (including the statue of Winston Churchill), fires. Several police and protesters are in hospital with serious injuries. Anarchists have attacked the car of Prince Charles and Camilla. Protesters have smashed the windows of the flagship store of Top Shop at Oxford Circus in the middle of busy Christmas shopping. They've also attempted to burn down the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square.
