Despite the Kings' proclamation that it's the Cup or bust this year, they have agreed to a downgrade and have maximized on their defensive depth.

The Kings have shipped Steve Eminger, FLA 2nd 2012, and Marek Hrivic to the Islanders for Brayden Schenn and Mike Weber.

The Islanders have positioned themselves in the top 8 in the east and it is no secret GM Beauchamp does not want to give that up; adding a shut down defender like Eminger (82 DF) will facilitate a better chance of a playoff birth.

This deal was negotiated quickly with both sides happy with their return.
