I'm sure this will sound nutty but I daily daydream about zombie apocalypses and how I would react in certain siutations and I think I have your answer.
If that was my buddy, dead in the hospital room, I'd block the door simply so the walkers can't eat him. I'd rather he slowly rot than be the victim of a feeding frenzy.
