2010 is arguably the best year in a long time for new music. There were so many releases, it was hard to keep up. What does that say about an apparent 'dying industry'? Corporate music really took a back seat this year. I can't remember another time where so many debut albums were coming.
Top 5 albums of the year for me, also in no particular order:
Brandon Flowers -
Flamingo
Favorite track:
Jilted Lover and Broken Hearts
Fenech Soler(self titled)
Favorite track:
The Great Unknown
Bombay Bicycle Club -
Flaws
Favorite track:
Ivy and Gold
Mark Ronson & The Business International -
Record Collection
Favorite track: The entire album...Or
The Bike Song
XX -
The XX
Favorite track:
Crystalized
Honorable mentions to:
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark and Twisted Fantasy
Kings of Leon - Come Around Sundown
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
The New Pornographers - Together
Sleigh Bells - Treats
So many others I could list...
Also, not to be forgotten, the
worst album of 2010:
M.I.A - MAYA. What a train wreck. Miley Cyrus's album was also awful, but there were no expectations for otherwise from her. Plus she's (18 now) hot.
