It's totally beyond me how anyone could pick any other choice than the original Dawn of the Dead (1978) as the best the genre has to offer. It's so head and shoulders above everything else that has ever been done with zombies.
I'm enjoying the walking dead quite a bit so far but it's like comparing no name brand ice cream to haagen daaz. It's not in the same league. I've seen every Lucio fulci, every George Romero, and every remake and ripoff to come along since. The greatest of all time is Dawn of the Dead.
