Lots of reasons for both I think. I have a 360 but have considered ditching it for a PS3 at times, because I generally don't play as many games as I used to and the media capabilities are probably more important to me now. Also, I do have xbox live but I very seldom play games online. It also seems to me most games I really want to play are on both systems anyways. I've had my 360 for a long time, but I think if I was making the buying decision today I might opt for the Ps3.
However I'm not sold that I really need blu-ray, I think more and more of my movie watching is going to come from streaming in the future.
One factor for me, and others have mentioned it, is the 360 controller. Feels much more comfortable to me. I could adjust to the ps3 controller but I really do prefer the 360 one quite a bit more.
At the end of the day its all about how your going to use the system and what exclusive games you really want to play.
