I am what you might call the loner-type. My fiancee too, though she wasn't always that way (I hope I haven't ruined her!) I always kind of figured that I don't associate with anyone outside my small circle more than I have to in real life, so why wold I on facebook?

But I set up an account about a year ago after my fiancee did. It baffles me that some people I know have 300+ friends. I don't even know 300 people. At first I felt kind of awkward, especially when people I barely knew started to send me friend requests. Like people from work, or people from school who I don't think I've ever said two words to.

Over time I connected with lots of my family I don't see that often (as in weddings and funerals) and m glad to have gotten in touch with them. And some friends from the past and present. Overall, I like facebook: I usually check it a few times a day now.
