I can get either the D90 with 15-105vr kit lens, with case and Hoya 67mm uv filter for around $750 or

I can get the Rebel T2i for the same price with some extras as per the ad here.

I am looking at taking pictures of family (kids playing sports) I don't care about teh full HD aspect of the T2i as I feel 720 is enough.

Opinions are appreciated
If you care about video, T2i. It's not the 720p that'll kill you, it's the rolling shutter. T2i has it too, but from what I read it isn't as bad.

18-105 gives you a nice range upgrade over 18-55, but if you're going to add a 70-300 or something it's really kind of redundant.

I'd suggest going to a store and trying 'em out. Size and handling is important, especially if you're shooting long sessions. And smaller isn't always better... I actually wish my D90 was bigger.
