when you got all that in your elemtary, junior, and senior high years, then you can get a settlement.
I do not want the Liberals to win, but come on, at least think a little more before jumping to a conclusion.

Billie, I agree, fully.
It was a government endorsed program in cooperation with the church that the residential schools were to serve as a sort of refinery...And it was in these schools that Native children were to be groomed to become a
servant class.
These schools and those practices were supported by the government.
Ever wonder why there is such rampant alcoholism, crime and broken family units in Native society?
That's what happens when you destroy almost an entire generation of people by subjecting them to degrading and psychologically harmful conditions.
There is an entire generation of Native's that as a result of these schools were brought up without love or care. They were not equipped with the tools necessary to raise children, because they themselves were never raised in a healthy environment.
Not every Native falls into this category, but certainly a significant portion of the population does.
I know someone personally who went through one of these schools...
How about only being allowed to use 3 plys of toilet paper per day? Need more? Time for a beating...
Tried to talk to your sister who lives in the building on other side of the school? Time for a beating. And no it doesn't matter that you are only 7 years old and don't have a firm grasp on english. You are not allowed to communicate at any time in your language.
Father Fred feels like getting frisky? Too bad, because nobody cares, and those who do will find their complaints swept under the corrupt church rug.
Institutionalized hatred is not something I can support. I don't like throwing money at problems, but certainly something must be done to atone for this past injustice.
The person I know who went through one of these schools needs regular therapy because of all her surpressed memories. They still haunt her. They range from sexual to physical abuses. She has emotional scars that affected the way she raised her two daughters, and they almost destroyed her family.
