QB/WR chemistry is a part of it, I'm sure. Injuries have taken a toll, but it always seemed like the effort wasn't there.

That one fairly easy catch that he dropped is the reason.
For some reason Lloyd is exceptional at making the circus catches but the more routine catches he has always seemed to lose focus. It has been that way for his entire career. Watching him start his career for SF, the coaches always were harping on him to make the catch before turning up field, but as soon as the game began he would always revert back.
Put Lloyd in the toughest areas of the field and he will be money, but you need to compliment him with a player who can make catches in the open field.
