I'm more likely to be hit by lightning 10 times than I am being killed in a terrorist attack, I think the cost/benefit ratio of giving up certain liberties is a bit out of whack.

I'd hazard a guess that they don't want to release videos of weapons being found because they don't want people thinking air travel is unsafe.
Can't even begin to imagine how delicate their PR needs to be on this.
