Khabibulins Habs Stonewall Devils

Khabibulin poses with a fan after indulging in Beerfunds private stash.

The Montreal Canadiens extended the Devils winless streak to 3 games today with a 3-1 win over the Devils. Again the victim of terrible judgement by the officiating crew. Despite the fact that the green light was on and that the buzzer had sounded Devils nemeisis Kerry Fraser allowed the Habs to fire home the puck into an empty net as the Devils were leaving the ice thinking the period was over. Even the Habs thought the period had ended as they were filing off the ice, but Chuck Kobasew who had the puck as the buzzer sounded leisurely skated to the net and shot the puck into it. To everyones surprise Fraser signalled a goal, and skated to the timekeepers bench. On the way he was sure to smirk at Devils coach/GM Sylvanfan, and than burst out laughing. Unsure what to do the timekeepers marked the goal down as being scored at 20:00.

The Devils protested vehimately, but to no avail as Kerry Fraser claimed that he never heard no buzzer as he was too busy admiring his reflection in the plexi glass at the end of the rink. But the Devils attempted to make a game of it as they came hard, and an emotional Chris Neil tallied his 6th of the season. Still mourning the loss of his mother from a tragic accident Neil turned up in time for the game and gave an inspired performance. After Neil fired the puck home he pointed skyward, and the tears could be seen in his eyes.

But the Canadiens took the lead on a PP goal just prior to the halfway mark of the third period. As Glen Wesley sat in the box after yet another Phantom Fraser call it was Patrick Marleau who ripped home a one timer past Mike Dunham. Martin Erat added the insurance 3:05 later when he caught Andy Delmore trying to catch the attention of the girl in the crowd and was able to get away from his man. Henrik Zetterberg than threaded the perfect pass and Erat was able to beat Dunham high to the glove hand. The Canadiens easily drew out the rest of the game and took home the win. The real hero was Nikolai Khabibulin who thwarted the Devils in the first two periods turning aside 25-26 shots. Once the rest of the team showed up the Habs were home scott free.

"Well thats it, I can't keep my mouth shut anymore. I have no idea whats up with Fraser but he's become more than enough for me. He's the worst official in the history of sports. He's the dumbest sack of shinguard on this planet right now. I'd love to have my owner set him in a set of concrete shoes and throw his ass in the Hudson!" exclaimed a very animated Sylvanfan after the game. The GM continued in his tirade for about another hour as he talked of the various ways he would like to see Fraser tortured, and about just how angry he really was about the officiating in the past two days. Eventually the GM did crack a smile when asked what his Thanksgiving plans were. All he would offer up is that one of his players would be serving up something really special for tommorrows Thanks Giving tilt against the Predators.
