Leafs lose to Sabres 4-3.
There was no rust on the Leafs tonight as they made their way back on the ice after their longest break of the season. The Leafs came out strong and outshot the Sabres by a good margin. Everything seemed to go as planned for the Leafs, except in net. Roman Cechmanek stopped only 15 shots of the 19 he faced. Leafs played a decent game, but just couldn't get it done tonight.
The positives: Leafs outshot their opponent. The 2nd line scored twice, including 2 points from Andrei Kostsitsyn and 1 point from Ryan Suter, the first of his career. With two injuries on the blueline it's important that Suter continues to play well.
The negatives: Cechmanek with a weak outing. Hopefully he can pick it up for the second game of the home and home with Buffalo. The Leafs power play was only 1 for 7 and got blanked on a 5 minute major in the first period. 2 for 7 and the Leafs might have taken a point from the Sabres tonight.
