I still remember a phone conversation with my wife (then girlfriend) who was living in Vancouver at the time.
Her: You know when it rains so much that you pant legs get wet up to your knee?
Me: No
Her: There's so much rain that when you walk around your pants get soaked between the bottom and the knee.
Me: You mean to tell me that it rains so much in vancouver that the rain defies all reason and goes up?
Her: More or less, ya.
Now what she was getting at is that the ground is so saturated that whatever clothing touches the ground just soaks up water until it reaches your knee. Regardless ... that's a hell of a lot of water.
I know the cold and wind sucks, but at least we get reprieve every few weeks. Plus we can use the snow to our advantage if winter sports are your thing.

I have to agree I love Vancouver and lived there for a few years would happily live there again if not for the rain.
The rain just sucks your soul it is endless. At least the sun is shining here and it can recharge your mental battery.
I remember Jan 1994 there was a total of 7 hours of sunshine the whole month. Now that is not a consecutive 7 hours, that is spaced out over a month. If you work indoors you would probably miss it. Now imagine never seeing the sun for a month. It truly bums you right out.
Many people suffer from SAD in that town.
